Ann Pitts Turner inducted into Oklahoma Sports Hall of Fame
Trail-blazing former Oklahoma State women’s golf coach Ann Pitts Turner was one of five inductees Monday night into the Oklahoma Sports Hall of Fame at the National Cowboy and Western Heritage Museum.
The 2025 class included Wes Welker (football), Enos Semore (baseball coach), Ken Hayes (basketball coach), and the late Don Porter (softball).
Pitts founded OSU’s varsity golf program in 1976 and – over the next 24 years – led the Cowgirls to 15 conference titles, 15 NCAA Championship appearances, five AIAW Championship bids and a program-record 56 team wins. Along the way she provided 19 All-Americans, 15 NGCA/WGCA All-American Scholars and 60 individual medalists.
The Tulsa native and 1961 OSU graduate is already a member of the Oklahoma Golf Hall of Fame (Class of 2008), National Golf Coaches Association Hall of Fame (Class of 1995) and OSU Hall of Honor (Class of 2023).
Here is the Golf Oklahoma feature on Ann from her induction into the OSU Hall of Honor in 2023.
