Bonaobra wins second consecutive on OJGT; Kalapura storms back

Samuel Bonaobra of Broken Arrow won his second consecutive event on the Oklahoma Junior Golf Tour, capturing the Bailey Ranch Bash Sunday with a closing round 70 to finish at 5-under 139.

Bonaobra, who opened with a 69, finished three shots ahead of Porter Hart of Broken Arrow, who carded consecutive rounds of 1-under 71, and Wyatt Basford of Tulsa (72-70). It is the fourth OJGT victory overall for Bonaobra, who also won the first event of 2022 at Muskogee Golf Club and the Oak Tree Junior Classic this spring.

Tommy McDowell of Leawood, Kan., took fourth at 1-under (68-75). Tied for fifth at even par were Jacob Newsome of Tulsa (76-68) and Peyton Burbridge of Nixa, Mo., (76-68).

Megan Kalapura of Tulsa rebounded from an opening 80 to shoot 2-under 70 Sunday and win the girls division by three shots over Kylie Fisher of Tahlequah, who was also vying for consecutive OJGT victories.

Fisher shot 77-76 to take second. Amy Reavis of Stillwater was third (79-77), Autumn McMahan of Cherokee fourth (78-84) and Maggie Ruby of Stillwater fifth (82-81).

The OJGT moves to Page Belcher Golf Course in Tulsa for this weekend’s event.
