Cowan, Kilcrease lead locals at Junior PGA Championship at Cog Hill

Ryder Cowan of Edmond shot a 2-over 74 and Parker Sands of Edmond a 75 as the 2022 Junior PGA Championship got under way at Cog Hill Golf and Country Club in Palos Park, Ill., on Tuesday.

Cowan was tied for 39th after the first round while Sands was tied for 54th. The field will be cut to the low 60 and ties after today’s second round.

Sam Morris of Jenks shot 80 and was tied for 106th and Tyler Collier of Broken Arrow shot 83 and was tied for 134th. Sharing the first round lead were Nicholas Gross and Jay Leng with 5-under 67s.

In the girls event, University of Tulsa signee Grace Kilcrease of Springdale, Ark., shot a 4-under 68 and was tied for sixth. Jenni Roller of Jenks got off to a rough start with double bogeys on four of her first 12 holes and finished at 80 to tie for 129th.
