Cowboys begin season at Olympia Fields/Fighting Illini Invitational
OLYMPIA FIELDS, Ill. – Oklahoma State’s men’s golf team will get its fall slate underway this weekend when it tees it up at the Olympia Fields/Fighting Illini Invitational at famed Olympia Fields Country Club.
The Cowboys, who enter the season ranked seventh, will be one of 15 teams in action at the par-70, 7,310-yard North Course. The event will consist of 54 holes with 18 holes being played each day from Friday through Sunday.
Play will begin on Friday and Saturday at 8 a.m. (CST) with Sunday’s final round slated to begin at 7:30 a.m.
OSU’s starting five will consist of seniors Rasmus Neergaard-Petersen, Hazen Newman and Rayhan Thomas as well as juniors Jonas Baumgartner and Bo Jin.
The Cowboys are coming off a four-win campaign a year ago that also saw OSU produce six individual medalists as well. Head coach Alan Bratton’s squad posted a third-place showing at last year’s Fighting Illini Invitational.
OSU has won the event on two occasions, taking top honors in 2007 and 2018. Four Cowboys have won the individual title with Rickie Fowler (2007), Trent Whitekiller (2009), Peter Uihlein (2010) and Matthew Wolff (2018) all claiming medalist honors.
