KOHALA COAST, Hawaii – Oklahoma State’s men’s golf team will get its spring slate underway this week when it begins play at the 33rd annual Amer Ari Intercollegiate at the Mauna Lani Resort Golf Club’s North Course.
The Cowboys will be one of 20 teams in action at the 54-hole event. Play will begin on Thursday at 7:30 a.m. (HST) with a shotgun start. The second round will be played on Friday with Saturday marking the third and final round. Head coach Alan Bratton’s squad will be grouped with Hawaii-Hilo, North Carolina and Texas during the first round.
OSU was set to begin its season last year at the event before it was called off due to high winds.
This year’s starting five will consist of senior Jonas Baumgartner, fifth year Rayhan Thomas as well as the freshman trio of Preston Stout, Gaven Lane and Johnnie Clark.
Four Cowboys will compete individually with fifth years Hazen Newman and Dillon Stewart as well as senior Bo Jin and sophomore John Wild all participating as well.
Two years ago, the Cowboys rallied to win the event after firing a 24-under 264 during their final round to finish at 50-under 814.
Individually, Eugenio Chacarra closed with a course-record 62 to claim medalist honors as well. With his win, he joined Matthew Wolff, Jordan Niebrugge, Jonathan Moore, Tyler Leon, Bratton and Craig Hainline as OSU medalists at the event.
The Cowboys have captured the tournament title nine times since its inception. OSU won the event in 1991, 1995, 1996, 2005, 2011, 2014, 2018, 2019 and 2022.
