With storms predicted for overnight and into Tuesday, the decision was made to play 36 holes Monday in the Stillwater Regional. Oklahoma State played up a storm of its own Monday afternoon.
After shooting even-par 288 on its home course Karsten Creek in the morning, the Cowboys went on a 17-under 271 tear in the afternoon, led by 7-under rounds of 65 from both Brian Stark and Bo Jin. Eugenio Lopez-Chacarra shot 2-under 70 and Austin Eckroat and Aman Gupta each shot 1-under 71.
Stark subbed for fellow freshman Jonas Baumgartner, who shot a 75 in the first round.
OSU’s 559 total leaves them two shots ahead of first-round leader Illinois, which shot 13-under 275 in the second round. The top five teams qualify for the NCAA Championship, and Northwestern currently has a 1-shot lead over Sam Houston and two over Auburn for fifth place.
Noah Goodwin of Southern Methodist is the individual leader at 11-under after rounds of 66-67. Jin is third for OSU (74-65) at 5-under, while Eckroat and Lopez-Chacarra are tied for ninth at 3-under.
If possible, the third round will begin Tuesday at 10 a.m.
Oral Roberts’ Jack Howes is competing as an individual and currently tied for 35th place after rounds of 72 and 76.
