OLYMPIA FIELDS, Ill. – Fresh off its season-opening win at Pebble Beach, Oklahoma State’s men’s golf team will be back in action at another historic venue this weekend when it begins play at Olympia Fields Country Club

The top-ranked Cowboys will be one of 15 teams in action at the par-70, 7,353-yard layout. The 54-hole event will begin on Friday at 8 a.m. (CST) and will consist of 18 holes each day through Sunday.

Last year, the Cowboys finished as the event’s runner-up with junior Zach Bauchou posting a top-five finish, tying for fourth place. OSU won the event in 2007 and has produced the individual medalist on three occasions with Rickie Fowler (2007), Trent Whitekiller (2009) and Peter Uihlein (2010) all winning the tournament during their collegiate careers.

Fowler’s 63 during his second round in 2007 is still tied for the low round in tournament history, while his 203 total that same year is also tied for the low total at the event.

The Cowboys are coming off their third consecutive Carmel Cup victory after posting a 52-under total of 1,028 en route to a 14-shot victory.

Junior Hayden Wood carded a 19-under total of 197 to finish tied for first place before eventually falling in a playoff.

This week’s lineup will consist of Bauchou, Wood, seniors Kristoffer Ventura and Brendon Jelley as well as freshman Matthew Wolff.

The Cowboys will also have three individuals in action this week at the Inverness Intercollegiate, which is set to take place on Monday and Tuesday. Sophomores Viktor Hovland and Tyson Reeder as well as junior Nick Heinen will all be in action at the event.
