Cowboys move up leaderboard at Watersound Invitational

PANAMA CITY BEACH, Fla. – Oklahoma State’s men’s golf team fired the low score of the day during the second round of the Watersound Invitational on Tuesday to climb four spots into sixth place at Shark’s Tooth Golf Course.

The Cowboys carded a 12-under 276 to move up the board at the par-72, 7,246-yard layout. OSU has a 36-hole total of 570, 6-under par, and is two shots behind Georgia Tech for fifth place and three off the pace of Florida State for fourth place. Vanderbilt stands at 556 and seven shots clear of the field.

Georgia Tech’s Christo Lamprecht posted a 65 during his second round to stand at 8-under 136 to lead the individual race by two.

OSU’s Preston Stout climbed into the top five with a 68 to stand at 5-under 139 and tied for fifth place. The freshman started his day on the back nine and birdied the 13th and 16th to turn in 2-under 34. He birdied the second before carding his lone bogey of the day at the fourth.  He closed with birdies at the eighth and ninth for a closing nine of 2-under 34.

Fifth year Rayhan Thomas fired the squad’s round of the day with a 67 to move from a tie for 56th into a tie for 21st place at 2-under 142. Thomas put together a bogey-free round that featured three birdies on the front nine as well as two more on the second side to get to his 5-under tally.

Freshman Gaven Lane also rallied after opening with a 76, posting a 68 on Tuesday to move from a tie for 61st place into a tie for 28th at 144.

Senior Jonas Baumgartner carded a 73 to stand at 1-over 145 and tied for 32nd place.

Freshman Johnnie Clark is competing individually and is tied for 40th place after signing for a 74, giving him a 146 total.

Sophomore John Wild posted an 83 and has sole possession of 73rd place at 161.

The Cowboys will begin their second round tomorrow at 7:40 a.m. (EST) and will be grouped with Florida State and Georgia Tech. Live scoring is available at golfstat.com.
