Cowboys slip into second at The Prestige
LA QUINTA, Calif. – Oklahoma State’s men’s golf team posted a 2-over 286 during its second round on Tuesday at The Prestige presented by Charles Schwab to dip into second place at PGA WEST’s Greg Norman Course.
The top-ranked Cowboys entered the day one shot clear of the field before LSU posted a 4-under 280 during its second round to grab a five-shot lead with its 9-under 559 total. OSU stands alone in second at 564, while Pepperdine is third at the par 71, 7,100-yard layout with its 570 tally.
A pair of players grabbed the top spot on the individual leaderboard with Stanford’s Brandon Wu and Thomas Hutchison of UC Davis carding matching totals of 135, 7-under par.
Two Cowboys stand inside the top five through 36 holes with sophomore Austin Eckroat holding sole possession of third place, while junior Viktor Hovland came in tied for fourth.
Eckroat followed an opening 68 with a 70 for a 138 total, while Hovland posted a 71 during his second round to stand at 139.
Sophomore Matthew Wolff posted a 75 during his second round to drop into a tie for 17th place at 144.
Senior Zach Bauchou’s second consecutive 73 knotted him for 26th place at 146, while classmate Hayden Wood moved into a tie for 44th place at 149 with his 72.
Freshman Aman Gupta is competing individually and stands in a tie for 32nd place at 147 after signing for a 77.
The Cowboys will be grouped with Pepperdine and LSU for tomorrow’s final round and will begin play at 9:20 a.m. (CST).
