Cowgirls’ magical NCAA ride ends in 5-0 loss to Arkansas
CARLSBAD, Calif. – The Oklahoma State women’s golf team returned to Omni La Costa Resort & Spa for its fifth round of the 2026 Division I Women’s Golf Championship on Tuesday, falling to No. 3 Arkansas in the match play quarterfinals to end its season.
No. 6 Oklahoma State qualified for match play for the first time in six seasons yesterday after capping off a sixth-place, 3-over finish in stroke play.
The Cowgirls faced off against Arkansas, the seventh-ranked team in the country and No. 3 seed, for the first round of match play. Arkansas went on to defeat Oklahoma State, 5-0.
Ellie Bushnell ended her stellar junior season with a hard-fought 3&2 loss to Reagan Zibilski. Tuesday’s round marked Bushnell’s 40th this season, a new single-season program record.
Sophomore Summer Lee lost 3&1 to Abbey Schutte in her collegiate match play debut.
A middle-round rally from true freshman Yu-Chu Chen saw her win or halve six consecutive holes (four wins, two halves), but Sara Brentcheneff prevailed to a 3&2 win to clinch the match for the Razorbacks.
Marta Silchenko capped off one of the greatest seasons in Cowgirl Golf history by going head-to-head with No. 3-ranked Maria Jose Marin. Silchenko and Marin’s match ended with Marin up by two through 15 holes.
Tarapath Panya turned in her best performance of the week in a matchup against Natalie Blonien, going 1-over through 14 holes. Blonien, the former state champion at Altus, two-time winner of the OGA Junior Girls Stroke Play Championship and winner of both the WOGA Junior and State Amateur, held a one-hole lead upon the end of the match.
