Cowgirls move into third at Windy City Collegiate
WILMETTE, Ill.—Oklahoma State’s women’s golf team opened with a 36-hole total of 589 during the first day of action at the Windy City Collegiate Championship on Monday to stand alone in third place at Westmoreland Country Club.
The Cowgirls rallied during their second round with a 289 to move up from a tie for eighth after posting a 300 during their morning round. OSU’s 13-over total is two shots behind Northwestern and eight off the pace of tournament leader Southern California at the par-72, 6,291-yard layout.
Tulane’s Emily Penttila fired a 66 during her second round to finish at 7-under 137 and three shots clear of the field.
Leading the way for OSU was freshman Maddie McCrary, who posted rounds of 74 and 72 to come in with a 146 total and tied for 11th place.
Sophomore Linnea Johansson was a stroke back at 147 after rounds of 75 and 72. She finished the day tied for 16th place.
Freshman Kenzie Neisen and sophomore Isabella Deilert each turned in 148 totals to stand in a tie for 18th place. Neisen carded rounds of 76 and 72, while Deilert posted scores of 75 and 73.
Freshman Alexis Sadeghy signed for rounds of 85 and 83 to finish at 168 and in 79th place.
The Cowgirls will close out the event tomorrow at 9:00 a.m. (CST) and will be grouped with USC and Northwestern.
