Cowgirls place sixth in Bahamas, Tatematsu ties for seventh
NEW PROVIDENCE, Bahamas – No. 20 Oklahoma State women’s golf completed its spring opener at the Nexus Collegiate on Wednesday, finishing in sixth after shooting (+18) 306 in the third round.
For the week, the Cowgirls recorded rounds of 306-293-306 to end the tournament just four strokes back of No. 4 South Carolina for fifth-place.
Rina Tatematsu paced the Cowgirls all week, shooting a 4-over 76 in the third round and landing in a tie for seventh, her highest placement since winning the East Lake Cup in October of 2021.
The junior completed the week with a 54-hole score of 221, finding much success on par-5’s, going 3-under on such holes.
Maddison Hinson-Tolchard ended the week tied for 12th following her 3-over 72 in the final round. She sank eight birdies throughout the tournament, tied with Tatematsu for most on the team.
With the result, Hinson-Tolchard has now finished inside the top-20 in all five tournaments played this season and played 39 rounds in a row in which her score counted towards the team’s overall score.
Clemence Martin posted a six-over 78 in the third round en route to a tie for 33rd. The sophomore made 39 pars during the week, just one shy of the most by any player in the field.
Han-Hsuan Yu and Hailey Jones rounded out the Cowgirl lineup, finishing tied for 38th and 44th, respectively.
Cecilie Leth-Nissen continued to gain valuable experience while playing as an individual, ending the week in a tie for 45th. The freshman played in just the fourth tournament of her collegiate career while picking up seven birdies on the week, the third-most by any Cowgirl.
Oklahoma State will tee off once again on February 27-28 for the ICON Invitational at the Golf Club of Houston in Humble, Texas. The Cowgirls finished third in each of the last two renditions of the tournament.
