Cowgirls struggle in second round in New Orleans
NEW ORLEANS — Freshman newcomers Han-Hsuan Yu and Lianna Bailey continued to shine for Oklahoma State women’s Golf team in the second round at the Allstate Sugar Bowl Intercollegiate Championship.
Yu shot 1-over 73, which sent her up 18 spots on the leaderboard, and into a tie for 28th place. Bailey carded a 3-over 75 to move into a tie for 32nd place. Together, the cowgirls combined for 16-over 304 to move them up to seventh place, tied with Michigan State and Auburn. No. 3 Texas still leads the tournament at 3-over 291.
Ana Balec of Duke, who shot even par 72, continues to lead the event. Yu will start off the final round nine strokes behind Balec, followed by Bailey who will be 10 strokes behind.
Sara Camarena will also enter the final round tied for 32nd place with a 7-over 79 for the day. Michelle Forsland shot 5-over 77 to land in 64th place and Chih-Min Chen shot 11-over 83 to finish the day in 77th place.
The Cowgirls will tee off the final round at the English Turn Golf & Country Club at 8 a.m. central time. You can follow the action at golfstat.com.
