Cowgirls, Tulsa conclude play at Chevron Collegiate in Houston

HUMBLE, Texas – Oklahoma State women’s golf concluded play at the Chevron Collegiate on Tuesday in 14th place at the 6,392-yard, par-72 Golf Club of Houston. The Cowgirls closed the final 18 at an even 288, finishing the three-round tournament even to par with rounds of 287-289-288 – 864. SMU took home the tournament title, leading the field at 33-under 831, while Maryland and Texas A&M slotted on the podium with a 29-under 835 and a 24-under 840.

Isabel Sy of Illinois and Nicha Kanpai of Maryland took home individual champion honors, signing off 12-under 204 in play.

Maddison Hinson-Tolchard notched her 100th-career counting score on Tuesday, posting a bogey-free 3-under 69 on Tuesday to finish tied for 20th in the field. Hinson-Tolchard shot under par in each round with scores of 71, 70 and 69 while adding 11 birdies across the two-day tournament.

Thitaporn Saithip rounded out her first spring tournament carding a 2-over 74, ending action tied for 37th at an even 216.

Ellie Bushnell posted a 2-over 74 in the closing round to cap action tied for 55th, while Marta Silchenko signed a 1-under 71 to end tied for 67th.

Angelica Pfefferkorn withdrew in the final round after posting day-one scores of 77 and 73.

Next up, the Cowgirls head to Augusta, Georgia, to take on the Valspar Augusta Invitational on March 9-10 at Forest Hills Golf Club.

Three Tulsa golfers participated as individuals this week in the Chevron Collegiate. The Golden Hurricane, coming off a first-place performance at the Nexus Collegiate, had to pull-out of the team competition due to illness affecting a portion of the team.

For the Hurricane, junior Sydney Seigel finished in 34th place with scores of 70-73-71 for a 2-under par 214 total. Freshmen Allyn Stephens and Norah Seidl each turned in final round 2-over par scores of 74 on Tuesday in final round action. Stephens finished in 43rd place with a 2-over par score of 218, while Seidl was one stroke back with a 219 total for 48th place.

Tulsa plans to be back in action next week, March 4-5, at The Show in Las Vegas, Nevada.
