Dalke one shot back in Western Amateur, McAllister surges in PGA Junior, Meyers in contention in Texas Open
• Brad Dalke shot a 7-under 64 to pull within one shot of the lead Wednesday in the Western Amateur Championship at Skokie Country Club in Glenncoe, Ill. Ruben Sondaja of Sydney, Australia, leads at 12-under, while Dalke is 11-under after opening with a 67 on the par-71 course.
Dalke’s University of Oklahoma teammate Blaine Hale was tied for 11th at 6 under, as was Mason Overstreet of Kingfisher and the University of Arkansas. Brendon Jelley of Tulsa and Oklahoma State is among the group tied for 19th at 5-under, as is Grant Hirschman of OU. Zachary Bauchou was at 4 under. Among those missing the cut were OSU’s Kristoffer Ventura, Hayden Wood and Austin Eckroat, the latter two from Edmond as well.
• In the Boys Junior PGA Championship, Logan McAllister of Oklahoma City shot a third-round 67 to move into a tie for 14th at 6-under with one round to go at the Country Club of St Albans, Mo.
Ashley Bhatia of Wake Forest, N.C.., continues to lead after a third-round 69 moved him to 17-under. Follow final round scoring here.
