Defending champion Gudgel, 2020 champ Valuck advance in OGA Senior State Amateur

Defending champion Eric Gudgel of Stillwater rolled through the first two rounds of the Oklahoma Golf Association Senior State Amateur Championship Wednesday, defeated Curt Howard of Bristow 2 up and Kirk Fryer of Tulsa 7 and 6 at The Trails Golf Club in Norman.

Gudgel will face Jay Smith of Edmond in the quarterfinals today. Also moving ahead was 2020 champion Dr. Jon Valuck of Oklahoma City, who edged Robert Martella of Norman 2 and 1 and Scott Athey of Enid in 19 holes.

Quarterfinals and semifinals are today and the championship match Friday morning.
