Dobson shoots 70, leads WOGA State Amateur Championship Flight qualifying

Taylor Dobson shot a 2-under-par 70 to lead qualifying Monday for the championship flight of the Women’s Oklahoma Golf Association State Amateur Championship at the Golf Club of Oklahoma.

The 32-woman field will begin match play Tuesday morning and follow with the second round Tuesday afternoon. Quarterfinal and semifinal matches are Wednesday, with the championship matches in all flights Thursday morning.

To earn the championship, Dobson, a senior at the University of Tulsa, may have to get past both her current coach Annie Young, who tied for seventh with a 76, and former teammate ShaeBug Scarberry, now a junior at Troy, who tied for ninth with a 77.

Faith Hopkins of Bartlesville was in a group that tied for second at 75 along with Madison Smith, Taylor Towers, Kaylee Petersen and Blayne Barker. Young was tied for seventh with Bailey Blake while Scarberry was tied for ninth with Aylssa Wilson and Emma Shelley.
