Eagles in second, RSU seventh in South Central Regional Preview

 AMARILLO, Texas (March 12, 2018) – Oklahoma Christian birdied its way into contention on Monday during the opening round of the South Central Regional Preview at La Paloma Golf Club.

Playing on a links-style course on which the South Central-West Super Regional will be held later this season, the Eagles had 22 birdies – three more than any of the other 21 teams in the field – and posted a team score of 286, putting themselves in a tie for second, four shots behind Colorado-Colorado Springs.

OC is tied with Colorado Christian and four other teams are within 10 shots of the lead entering the final round on Tuesday.

Four OC players – Juan Pallach, Andres Brictson, Garrett White and Ethan Smith – each had five birdies on the 6,805-yard course, while Cameron Brown had two. Pallach and Brictson each fired a 1-under-par 70 and were tied for seventh individually in the 119-man field, four shots behind Tanner Comes of UCCS.

Smith and White – who overcame a quadruple bogey on his opening hole, the par-4 No. 10 – each shot a 73 and were tied for 26. Brown was tied for 58th after posting a 76.

Rogers State posted  292 and is seventh of 23 teams. Freshmen Luke Palmowski shot 1-under 70 and Aidan Gavey shot 72  as both sit in the top 15 after today’s opening. Freshmen George Burnett and Gonzalo Chaves each added scores of 75.
