Five Cowboys named to All-Big 12 Team, McGreevy honored for Sooners

IRVING, Texas – Five members of the Oklahoma State men’s golf team were honored with the release of the All-Big 12 men’s golf awards today by the conference office.

The Cowboys produced a league-best four all-conference selections with senior Jordan Niebrugge and sophomores Brendon Jelley, Stratton Nolen and Kristoffer Ventura all earning the distinction.

Niebrugge was named to the squad for the fourth year in a row after putting together a campaign with nine top-20 finishes, including a pair of top-five showings.

Ventura was chosen for the second year in a row after earning six top 20s on the year, including a victory at the Aggie Invitational earlier this spring.

Nolen has tallied four finishes inside the top 10 on the year, including his victory at the Big 12 Championship in his most recent outing, while Jelley has five top-20 finishes highlighted by his win at the John Hayt Collegiate.

Zach Bauchou was tabbed as the league’s newcomer of the year, becoming the sixth Cowboy to receive the honor. The freshman has three top 10s to his credit and earned his first career victory at the ORU Shootout.

The team is chosen by using the 10 highest-ranked players in the Golfweek/Sagarin national rankings released after the Big 12 Men’s Golf Championship. Of those 10 players, the highest-ranked competitor is named the Big 12 Player of the Year. Additionally, the highest-ranked newcomer receives Newcomer of the Year honors.

University of Oklahoma men’s golf junior Max McGreevy has been named to the 10-member team. McGreevy has competed in all 11 team events this season, posting a 72.09 (+0.52) scoring average.

The Edmond, Okla., native was named to the team for the first time in his career. This season, McGreevy has been the Sooners’ most consistent golfer, placing in the top 25 in nine of 11 events, including taking the individual title at the Gopher Invitational in September. Additionally, he has finished in the top five three times this year. McGreevy is ranked No. 48 nationally.

The Sooners return to the course May 16-18 at the NCAA Stillwater Regional.
