Fleming, Phillips, Young earn spots in 2021 Senior Professional Championship

Tim Fleming of Oklahoma City shot a 6-under 138 to win the South Central Section Senior Professional Championship Tuesday at Sand Creek Station in Newton, Kan., and become one of three Oklahoma golfers to qualify for the National Senior Professional Championship in October and have a chance to earn a spot in the 2022 KitchenAid Senior PGA Championship.

Jim Young of Edmond and Tracy Phillips of Tulsa tied for second and also qualified. Cary Cozby, who just played in the 2021 event at Southern Hills on a special exemption, is the first alternate after shooting a 3-over 147 (71-76).

The 2021 Senior Professional Championship will be held Oct. 21-24 at the Wanamaker and Ryder Courses at Port S. Lucie, Fla. The top 20 club professionals earn a spot in the 2022 KitchenAid Senior PGA Championship in Benton Harbor, Mich.
