Shannon Friday and Tim Fleming jumped out to a great start on their home course in the first round of the 2021 South Central Section Professional Championship Monday at Oklahoma City Golf & Country Club.

Friday shot a 5-under 66 and Fleming a 4-under 67 to lead a field of 83 PGA professionals from Oklahoma, Arkansas and southern Kansas in the quest for four spots in the 2022 PGA Professional Championship to be held April 17-20 at Omni Barton Creek Resort & Spa in Austin, Texas. The top 20 finishers there will compete in the 2022 PGA Championship May 19-22 at Southern Hills Country Club in Tulsa.

Tied for third are Jarod Lundy of Winter Creek in Blanchard and Todd Pinneo of Lost Springs Golf & Athletic Club in Rogers, Ark., at 2-under.

Eight others are a shot out of the top four at 1-under par with four more at even par, setting up a heated finish for the top four spots.
