Griggs has slim lead in qualifier for Junior PGA Championship

Carson Griggs of Sand Springs shot 2-under par 70 and has a one-shot lead at the halfway point of a qualifier at Battle Creek Golf Course in Broken Arrow to reach the 2018 Boys Junior PGA Championship.

Chasing Griggs with rounds of 1-under 71 are Parker Rose of Stigler, Connor Wilson of Edmond, Elott Horton of Oklahoma City and Mesa Falleur of Sallisaw.

In the girls qualifier, Syndie Gamble of Greenwood, Ark., shot 71 and is two shots ahead of Emma Shelley of Bartlesville and two shots ahead of Raychel Nelke of Ponca City and Jenni Roller of Jenks.

The top two boys and girls qualify for the national championships. The 2018 Boys Junior PGA Championship will be July 31 to Aug. 3 at Valhalla Golf Club in Louisville, Ky. The 2018 Girls Junior PGA Championship will be July 9-12 at Kearney Hills Golf Links in Lexington, Ky.
