After caddying his father to victory in the Oklahoma Golf Association Senior Amateur Championship on this same course two weeks back, Grant Gudgel navigated the tree-lined fairways of Meadowbrook Country Club in style himself Monday and Tuesday, shooting rounds of 67-66 for a 9-under total of 133 and a seven-shot victory in the Boys 14-15 age group of the season-ending Walter Hopper Tour Championship which concludes the South Central PGA Section’s summer junior tour calendar.

Close to 130 competitors took part in four age groups for boys and girls. Complete results in each age group are here.

Among the winners were; Boys 9-11, Porter Hart of Broken Arrow; Boys 12-13, Gregory Shaw of Tulsa and Boys 16-18, Gunner Williams of Choctaw. Girls winners were: 9-11, Kylie Fisher of Tahlequah; 12-13, Abby Chang of Broken Arrow; 14-15, Sophia Lefler of Tulsa and 16-18 Lily Stanton of Jenks.

Gudgel caddied most rounds as his father Eric won the Senior State Amateur and obviously learned that staying out of the trees at Meadowbrook is paramount. His 9-under performance goes with winning the OGA Junior State Amateur 14-15 division earlier this summer.

Girls 12-13 runner up Teagen Muldoon of Bella Vista, Ark., winner Abby Chang of Broken Arrow and player of the year Abbie Justiz of Arcadia.
Girls 9-11 runner up Lilly Grace Reid of Coweta and winner Kylie Fisher of Tahlequah.
