Gudgel, Jenks lead Class 6A at windy Jimmie Austin

Live Class 6A scoring

With south winds gusting over 30 mph, Jenks put together steady rounds of 308 and 308 to take a two-shot lead over Edmond North (309-309) going into the final round of the Class 6A state championship at Jimmie Austin OU Golf Course in Norman.

Grant Gudgel of Stillwater leads the individual race after rounds of 75-70, two shots better than Leyton Kyle of Norman North (71-76).

Sam Morris (75-75) and Buddy Wehrli (73-80) were the scoring leaders for Jenks. Carson Blaser of Edmond North is in third place overall at 149 (72-77). Norman North is in third, five shots behind Jenks, while Stillwater and Norman are also in the mix in the team race.

Scores for Classes 5A, 4A, 3A and 2A

Class 5A

Host Duncan opened a 16-shot lead over Bishop Kelley in Class 5A at Duncan Golf & Tennis Center.

Gunnar Harman of Altus shot 75-73 and has a one-shot lead over Caden Stevens of Duncan (75-74). Will Hennessee of Bishop Kelley (76-75) and defending champion Parker Payne of Noble are at 151

Class 4A

Drew Mabrey of Holland Hall has a one-shot lead over Will Sides of Cascia Hall through 36 holes of the Class 4A State Championship at Boiling Springs Golf Course in Woodward.

Mabrey shot rounds of 71-73 while Sides, a Southern Methodist signee, shot 74-71.

It’s all Heritage Hall in the team race, with a 38-shot lead over both Holland Hall and Cascia Hall.

In Class 3A, the expected battle between teammates Ryder Cowan and Bryant Polhill of Oklahoma Christian School materialized, with Cowan shooting rounds of 70-65 for a 135 total, two shots ahead of Polhill at 137 (69-68). Gavin Watson of Christian Heritage is seven shots back in third.

Christian Heritage has the lead in the team race by six shots over OCS. Both Christian Johnson and Carter Nutt shot 71 in the second round for Heritage.

Class 2A

Latta opened up a 34-shot lead over Nowata in the team race, while Brice Wolff of Stroud (70-69( leads Parker Pogue of Latta and Conner Cryer of Tipton by 11 shots for the individual title at Buffalo Rock Golf Course in Cushing.
