Hendricks, Howard share section honor, Fleming sweeps Player of Year awards
Broken Arrow, OK – For the first time in the section’s history, the South Central PGA’s highest honor, the Golf Professional of the Year, will be shared by two exceedingly deserving section members. Outgoing Section President, Troy Hendricks of Wichita Country Club along with current PGA of America board member Barry Howard of Hot Springs Country Club will be duel recipients.

Hendricks, a 36 year PGA Member, spent over 20 years with the city of Wichita, first as the head PGA professional at Auburn Hills Golf Course, and then as a golf executive overseeing all city of Wichita golf properties. Most recently he has moved to a new position at Wichita Country Club, taking his years of experience to one of the top private clubs in Kansas. Hendricks was most recently the 2019 Bill Strausbaugh award winner for his dedication to mentoring the next generation of PGA professionals.
Howard, a 29 year PGA Member, has spent the majority of his career at Hot Springs Country Club, moving up the ranks from assistant to head professional and serving as general manager since 2002. This will be the second Golf Professional of the Year award for Howard who also received the honor in 2018. Howard is also a past recipient of the Bill Strausbaugh award, a five time resort merchandiser of the year winner, and was most recently named to the PGA of America Board of Directors.
The South Central PGA would like to congratulate all the 2021 Special Award Recipients. The award winners will be recognized at the South Central PGA Special Awards Banquet, Monday February 28th, 2022 at the Stoney Creek Hotel and Conference Center in Tulsa.
