Hill takes individual crown but USAO defends team title at Winter Creek
Tres Hill of Oklahoma City University edged Connor Cryer of University of Science and Arts of Oklahoma by a single shot to win the Battle at Winter Creek Tuesday, but USAO flipped the script in the team race, shooting a collective 3-under to OCU’s 5-over to win their home tournament by eight shots.
Hill shot 10-under for 54 holes (66-70-68) while Cryer was second at 9-under after rounds of 70-68-69.
Cooper Hardison finished in third for USAO at 1-over, Jaeden Ellis was eighth at 3-over and Luca Gisler 14th at 6-over.
For OCU, Jack Newton and Michael Robson tied for 12th at 5-over.
In the women’s tournament, Texas Wesleyan won by nine shots over OCU with Redlands Community College in third and USAO taking fifth.
Logan Allen took second for OCU at 6-over and Jamie Welsch was third at 8 over. Daniela Espinoza led Redlands with a ninth-place finish at 14-over.
