HUMBLE, Texas – Oklahoma State women’s golf wrapped up the opening two rounds of the Chevron Collegiate on Monday in 13th place at the 6,392-yard, par-72 Golf Club of Houston.

The Cowgirls closed the opening round with a 1-under 287 and ended the day with a 1-over 289 to enter the final 18 at an even 576 in the 16-team field. Texas A&M and SMU co-lead the field with a 23-under 553, while Maryland enters Tuesday in a close third at 22-under 554.

Maryland duo Nicha Kanpai and Patricie Mackova enter Tuesday in a three-way tie as the individual leader, joining Adela Cernousek of Texas A&M at 9-under 135.

The University of Tulsa was scheduled to play in the event as a team, but several players came down with the flu. Tulsa has three players playing as individuals, led by Sydney Seigel in a tie for 38th through 36 holes.

In the opening round, Oklahoma State etched a top-five spot during the front nine, moving as high as second place. This surge was led by Maddison Hinson-Tolchard birdieing four of her first seven holes and Ellie Bushell carding three birdies in a row on hole Nos. 11, 12 and 13.

Hinson-Tolchard and Bushnell ranked first and second for OSU in birdies Monday, finishing with eight and six.

The Cowgirls pitched another burst to start the second round, shooting 6-under in the first six holes to jump up to seventh during the afternoon slate.

Hinson-Tolchard led the Cowgirls with rounds of 71 and 70 to enter the final 18 tied for 27th at 3-under 141. The senior’s eight birdies on the day moved her to 325 birdies in her OSU career, and four away from tying her former teammate, Lianna Bailey, in the program’s 30-year record book.

Thitaporn Saithip carded a pair of 71 rounds to place tied for 34th at 2-under 142 on the day. Saithip took no time on Monday, starting the day with three birdies and 11 pars before posting a bogey.

In her first tournament of the spring, the sophomore also helped notch another OSU first – its first eagle of the spring – doing so on the course’s par-5, 485-yard hole No. 4.

Bushnell closed the day tied for 51st, churning out rounds of 71 and 75 to finish 2-over 146.

Angelica Pfefferkorn signed rounds of 77 and 73 to enter the final 18 tied for 69th, while Marta Silchenko shot 8-over on the day with rounds of 74 and 78 to slot tied for 81st.
