Juliana Hong of Norman didn’t let the disappointment of a semifinal loss in the OGA Junior Boys & Girls Championship last Thursday linger. She shot a 1-under 69 at difficult Dornick Hills in Ardmore Monday to tie for first place in the Oklahoma qualifier for the U.S. Junior Girls Championship, earning one of two spots available made up of mostly of top juniors from Texas and Oklahoma.

A berth in the U.S. Girls Junior was available to the winner of the OGA Junior and that went to Evyn Cannon of Edmond, who edged Hong 1 up in the semifinals. Now both will be going to the event July 15-20 in Tarzana, Calif.

Lisa Herman of Jenks earned the first alternate spot with an even-par 70. Herman did not compete in high school or in the OGA Junior this year while pursuing a national schedule. Complete results here.

Austen Mueller of Yukon shot a 1-under 69 to earn one of four spots available in the qualifier for the U.S. Junior Boys Championship. Winner Logan Mayo of Springdale, Ark.,, led the field with a 68. Sam Morris of Jenks was in a four-man playoff after an even-par 70 for the final two spots and wound up as the second alternate.

Among those finishing one shot out of the playoff with rounds of 1-over 71 were Preston Albee of Choctaw and Parker Payne of Norman. Complete results here:

In another qualifier Monday at the Country Club of Little Rock, Benton Manly of Tulsa also was undeterred by coming close in the OGA Junior, where he lost to Parker Sands of Edmond in the finals. He earned one of four spots available in that qualifier by shooting a 2-under 69 to finish tied for third.

Coleman Sides of Tulsa and Chase Blaser of Edmond tied for sixth while Banks Cozby of Tulsa tied for 14th. Complete results here.

The U.S. Junior Amateur is July 22-27 at Oakland Hills Country Club in Bloomfield Hills, Mich.
