Hong off to taste the Big Apple, compete for Columbia

One of the last major in-state recruiting dominos to fall for 2026 happened Wednesday on the second national signing day when Norman North senior Juliana Hong put her name on an Ivy League scholarship offer with Columbia.

Hong won the 2024 Class 6A girls state championship as a sophomore and her teammate Harlow Gregory won in 2025. Those two along with Lisa Herman of Jenks will be the favorites this spring when the Class 6A title is decided May 4-5 at Hillcrest Country Club in Bartlesville.

Hong has also the Women’s Oklahoma Golf Association Stroke Play Championship and Junior Championship, the Oklahoma Golf Association Junior Girls Stroke Play (2025) and Match Play (2023) championships, numerous Oklahoma Junior Golf Tour events along with breaking through on the AJGA circuit with a victory in the 2025 C.T. Pan Foundation Junior Championship.

Also signing this week was her teammate Charlotte Haws with East Central; Broken Arrow’s Abby Chang with Rogers State University, Cordell’s Birdie Brown with Southwestern Oklahoma State University and Tori Kirberger of Jenks with Gardner Webb.

Prominent signings during the November signing period were: Ben Lathrop of Heritage Hall with Oklahoma State; Herman with Old Miss; Tripp Anderson of the Oklahoma City Storm and Cooper Watson of Lawton with Baylor, Abbie Justiz of Arcadia and Edmond North swith Jacksonville University; Ty Neatherlin of Oklahoma Christian with Drake, Hayden Russ of Norman North with Pittsburg State, John Helzer of the Oklahoma City Storm with Central Oklahoma and Marlee Pope of Piedmont with Oklahoma Baptist.

Significant commitments of talented underclassmen were announced by Banks Cozby of Tulsa with the University of Oklahoma and Emerson Majma of Edmond and the Oklahoma City Storm to Oklahoma State.
