Howes leads, Oral Roberts second in Summit League Championship

NEWTON, Kan. – Jackson Howes leads the field and the Oral Roberts men’s golf team is in second after round two of the 2021 Summit League Men’s Championship Sunday afternoon at Sand Creek Station in Newton, Kansas.

ORU led after the first round, but Denver shot into the lead with a 9-under 279 on day two. ORU shot 1-over 289 to drop into second after shooting 293 in the opening round.

Howes added a 4-under 68 to his opening 69 and is in the lead at 7-under, three shots ahead of Jon Sand of Denver. Howes had six birdies on the day and recorded four of those birdies on the back nine holes.  Howes has 11 birdies in the tournament.

Mike Biata is tied for 15th in the field after a 76. Jared Strathe subbed in for Hunter Laughlin in round two. Laughlin’s score after round one was an 84 (+12). Strathe recorded a 72 (E) in round two for a 156 (+14) scorecard entering round three.
