Jelley earns status on Mackenzie Tour with third-place finish
Oklahoma State senior Brendon Jelley earned an exemption into at least the first eight events on the Mackenzie Tour by virtue of his third-place finish Friday in a qualifier at Eaglebrook GC in Lakeland, Fla.
In a field of 132, Jelley finished as the low amateur and shot a 5-under par 67 Friday to finish at 18 under, three shots behind the winner Brad Miller.
The Mackenzie Tour, based in Canada and run by the PGA Tour, offers five exemptions into the following year’s Web.com Tour. Another former Cowboy from Oklahoma, Ian Davis, will be playing on the tour in 2018 to try to regain Web.com status.
