AUGUSTA, Ga. – Oklahoma State’s men’s golf team fired the low round of the day, a 10-under 278, on Sunday at the Augusta Haskins Award Invitational en route to a third-place showing at Forest Hills Golf Club. A pair of top-10 finishes from Ryder Cowan and Stephen Campbell Jr. powered No. 14 Oklahoma to a sixth-place finish.

The Cowboys finished the event at 13-under 851 and two shots behind Texas at the par-72, 7,086-yard layout. North Carolina finished six shots clear of the field with its 843 total.

Bo Jin narrowly missed giving OSU its second medalist in its last three outings. The senior posted a closing 66 to finish in sole possession of second place at 208 and a shot behind Mercer’s Tobias Jonsson.

After opening with a pair of birdies, Jin added two more birdies at the fifth and sixth before posting his lone bogey of the day at the seventh. He would tack on another birdie at the ninth to go out in 4-under 32.

Jin would start his inward nine with four consecutive pars before adding his sixth and seventh birdies of the day at the 14th and 15th. He would go on to close out his round with three consecutive pars.

The runner-up finish was the fifth of his career and first since finishing second to teammate Jonas Baumgartner last spring at the Mountaineer Invitational.

Fifth year Rayhan Thomas signed for his second consecutive 70 to finish at 214 and tied for 14th place.

Baumgartner closed with a 74 to finish a stroke back at 215 and tied for 17th place.

Freshman Preston Stout’s 71 put him at 218 and tied for 30th place, while classmate Gaven Lane also carded a 71 to finish tied for 49th place at 223.

The Sooners (T6, -6) carded the fourth-lowest final-round score to make up ground on the leaderboard, but they couldn’t break into the top five at the par-72 Forest Hills Golf Club.

Cowan (T10, -3) fired a 1-under 71 on Sunday afternoon to finish in a tie for 10th and post his second top-10 finish in three events as the freshman finished fifth at last month’s Pauma Valley Invite. The Edmond, Okla., product’s day featured four birdies and an eagle on the 601-yard, par-5 11th hole.

Campbell Jr. (T10, -3) shared 10th with Cowan on the leaderboard after signing for a 2-under 70 in the final round. The junior sat at 1-over par on the week thru seven holes on Sunday, but played his final 11 holes without a bogey paired with four birdies to get into the red and notch his third top 10 over his last four tournaments.

Ben Lorenz (T20, E) posted his third top-20 finish of the spring by tallying a 3-under 69 Sunday to finish at even par. The Peoria, Ariz, product led the field with 38 pars on the week.

Luke Kluver (T25, +1) rallied for 36 pars at the event to finish 25th.

Drew Goodman (T37, +3) finished in a tie for 37th after scoring a 71 (-1) in the final round.

As a team, Oklahoma has now finished under par in all nine stroke-play events this season and at 17 of their last 18 tournaments dating back to last season, with the only exception being the 2023 NCAA Championships at Grayhawk GC. However, the Sooners’ sixth-place finish snapped the team’s streak of top-fives at nine tournaments.

The Sooners close the regular season next weekend at The Thunderbird, held annually at Papago Golf Club in Phoenix. OU tees off on Friday morning in the two-day, 54-hole tournament, where it’ll go for a final tune-up before the Big 12 Championship on April 22-24.
