Kamas leads OCU to seventh in Bobby Nichols Intercollegiate

SEVIERVILLE, Tenn. – Oklahoma City University turned in a seventh-place finish in the Bobby Nichols Intercollegiate on Tuesday at Sevierville Golf Club.

The Stars’ Maddi Kamas finished 11th place in the individual standings. Oklahoma City, ranked second among NAIA women’s golf, put together a 304-317-316–937 on the par-71, 5,803-yard Highlands Course.

OCU stood in front of six NCAA Division I squads. Austin Peay State took the team title with a 293-294-307–894.

Kamas, a sophomore accounting major from Kingfisher, Okla., delivered a 71-80-76–227. Kamas tallied four birdies plus one eagle this week. She made two birdies Tuesday on the par-5, 432-yard third hole and the par-5, 410-yard 14th hole.

Three OCU golfers secured spots among the top 30. Paige Wood produced a 76-77-81–234, good for a tie for 28th. Wood, a sophomore broadcast journalism major from McKinney, Texas, drained three birdies in the tournament. Logan Allen came up with a 74-78-83–235, which placed her tied for 30th. Allen, a freshman from Las Vegas majoring in university studies, buried four birdies in the three rounds.

MaKayla Terrell provided the Stars with an 83-82-79–244, and Natalie Gough shot an 85-82-80–247. Jamie Welsh had a 77-82-83–242 playing unattached.

The Stars compete in the Kyle Blaser Invitational on March 27-28 at Gaillardia Country Club in Oklahoma City.
