STOCKTON, Calif. (May 3, 2016) â€“ Oklahoma Christian steadied itself and moved up a spot on Tuesday in the NCAA Division II West Super Regional women’s golf tournament at Brookside Country Club.
Led by a 1-over-par 73 by junior Allison Sell, the Lady Eagles posted a team score of 305 â€“ a seven-shot improvement over their first round â€“ and moved up to 11th with a two-round score of 617.
OC trails the team leader, Tarleton State (Texas), by 35 shots and will enter Wednesday’s final round 29 shots out of third place. The top three teams in the regional will advance to the NCAA Championship later this month in Aurora, Colo.
After two rounds, OC’s top individual is senior Audrey Meisch, who shot a 77 on the 5,931-yard course, recording a pair of birdies along the way. She’s tied for 28th in the 66-woman field at 151, 11 shots behind the leaders, Isabell Jiminez Perea of Tarleton State, Sydney Williams of Dallas Baptist (Texas) and Ana Sofia Benavides of St. Edward’s (Texas).
Sell’s 73 included a pair of birdies and was a nine-shot improvement over her first-round score. She will enter the final round tied for 42nd with teammate India Matthews, who shot a 78 on Tuesday.
OC freshman Kate Goodwin had a team-high three birdies and is just a shot behind Sell and Matthews at 156 after posting a 77, while freshman Elizabeth Freeman shot an 89 and is at 171.
For the final round in the Super Regional, OC will be paired with Chico State (Calif.) and Point Loma Nazarene (Calif.). The Lady Eagles will tee off between 10:30 a.m. and 11:10 a.m. Central time.
