Mabry, Staggs lead TU in final fall event

COLLEGE GROVE, Tenn.  – The University of Tulsa shot a final round 306 at The Intercollegiate at The Grove Tuesday to finish 11th of 12 teams.

Senior Matt Mabrey earned his third consecutive top 20 finish despite a final-round 77. He and fellow senior Colton Staggs both finished tied for 18th at 224. For Staggs, it was his third top-20 finish in four fall starts.

Matthew Marquez and Cody Kent finished at 233 and 235, respectively, while sophomore Francisco Yanez scored 237.

Ohio State, led by individual medalist Clark Engle, overcame second-round leader Troy to win the event.

The Intercollegiate was the final tournament for the Hurricane during the fall season of play. The Tulsa men will be back at it in February at the UTSA Oak Hills Invitational.
