Meyers repeats as leader in Fairway Golf Tour money list
Cameron Meyers of Edmond won the money title on the Fairway Golf Tour in 2014, the second consecutive year the young pro has accomplished that feat.
Meyers, who played his high school golf at Edmond North and collegiately at the University of Oklahoma and Oklahoma City University, would like to be winning money titles on a different tour in 2015, no disrespect to the well-run regional Fairway Tour.
By winning $37,049, Meyers edged out Daniel Raiford, a 60-year-old from Texas who has attempted to qualify for the Champions Tour in the past, and Paul Aycock, the general manager at Denison (Texas) Country Club and a former pro at Chickasaw Pointe and former golf coach at Southeastern Oklahoma State University. Meyers has won 17 events on the Fairway Tour in the past three years and has recorded 50 top-3 finishes.
The Fairway Tour (www.fairwaygolftour.com) is held mostly in Oklahoma and Texas and pits professionals and amateurs in one or two-day events using handicaps. Meyers carried a plus 2.4 handicap, meaning he had to have rock solid performances to earn significant money.
Meyers competed in several events on the Adams Tour, finishing tied for ninth at the Buffalo Run Classic at Peoria Ridge and in 46th place at the OK Kids Korral Championship at Belmar Golf Club in Norman. He tied for fifth in the 2014 Oklahoma Open at Oak Tree Country Club. The 2011 OGA Match Play champion entered the Web.com Tour qualifying school, where he advanced to second stage. He also tried Monday qualifying for several Web.com and PGA Tour events and for the most part found his game compares favorably with his competitors and is looking forward to more success in 2015.
