The Oklahoma women’s golf team picked up its second straight top-three finish by claiming second place at the Westbrook Invitational on Monday. The 16-team event was held at the par-72, 6,432-yard Vista Course at Westbrook Village Golf Club in Peoria, Ariz.

The Sooners carded a 283 (-5) in the final round for a three-round score of 854 (-10), finishing one shot behind first-place Nebraska (853, -11). Illinois placed third at 855 (-9).

Oklahoma’s performance marked its best finish of the season and its fifth top-five showing of the year. Four of the five competing Sooners finished in the top 25 of the 92-person field, helping fuel OU’s second-best tournament score of the season.

“We put ourselves in a great position today but struggled coming down the stretch,” said OU head coach Veronique Drouin-Luttrell. “There are a lot of positives to take from this event and hopefully will make us stronger leading into our next event.”

Sophomore Kaitlin Milligan blazed the way for the Sooners throughout the tournament, finishing in a share of seventh place with a 211 (-5). Milligan pocketed five birdies in Monday’s round en route to a round of 70 (-2). The Norman native has claimed a top-20 finish in six straight tournaments, including four top-10 showings during that stretch.

Sophomore Hannah Lee and freshman Mikhaela Fortuna tied for 16th place by each scoring a 214 (-2). Lee logged a 71 (-1) in the final round to assemble the second top-20 finish of her Sooner career. Fortuna recorded a 71 (-1) in her final round to collect her third top-20 finish and third finish under par in her rookie season.

Freshman Libby Winans posted a 71 (-1) on Monday to tie for 24th place at 217 (+1) while senior Julienne Soo shared 35th (218, +2) after carding a 73 (+1) on Monday.

The Sooners return to the course for the Clover Cup on March 15-17 in Mesa, Ariz. OU has taken home the team title at the Clover Cup twice, latest in 2018 when Soo posted a 211 to win the individual title for the second straight year.
