Morris, Jenks claim titles in The Hunt at Jimmie Austin

Sam Morris of Jenks shot a 2-under 70 to take medalist honors and lead Jenks to a first-place tie with Norman North in stroke play and later a 3-2 victory over Norman North in match play for the championship as many of the state’s top teams and individuals competed in The Hunt on a cool, breezy day at Jimmie Austin OU Golf Club.

The Hunt is hosted by Norman North and features 18 holes of stroke play for seedings followed by match play. Morris, an Oral Roberts signee, edged Josh Stuart of Norman North by two shots. Hunter Baumann of Edmond North and Grant Gudgel of Stillwater tied for third at 73, followed by Samuel Bonaobra of Union at 74.

The rest of the top 10 were Mack Moore of Norman North 75, Benson Diehm of Norman 76, Collin Bond of Community Christian 77, Sebastian Salazar of Norman, Jones Vrska of Owasso, Ty Hyatt of Stillwater, Will Whorton of Community Christian and Gage Tucker of Community Christian each shot 78.

Jenks and Norman North each shot 311 while Stillwater was at 312. Community Christian and Norman tied for fourth at 317.
