Dalton Daniel, a former Class 4A state champion at Newcastle and highly successful player on the Oklahoma Junior Golf Tour, is on a roll early in his sophomore season at Cal State Fullerton.
Daniel established his career best finish in the recent Mark Simpson Invitational, shooting 4-under 212 to claim fourth place individually and leading his team to a third-place finish. That came one event after Daniel had what was until then the best outing of his collegiate career, shooting a 2-over 212 to place 11th in a tournament at Colorado State.
Daniel’s best finish in his freshman year of 2017 was a tie for 14th place. His average score per round was a 75.56, in the first tournament of the season he did not shoot over a 74 in a single round (74-68-70).
In the Mark Simpson Invitational, Daniel moved up from tied for 23rd after shooting a 73 in round one to fourth place at the end of round two following his score of 69. He held that spot with a final round of 2-under 70.
