NSU moves up to third in Central Region Preview
Northeastern State rallied late to move up to a tie for third place, the highest finish among Oklahoma schools in the Central Region Preview concluding Wednesday at Adams Pointe Golf Club in Blue Springs, Mo. Southwestern Oklahoma State finished sixth and Oklahoma Baptist 11th. Henderson State won the preview by eight shots over Arkansas Tech. Grace Blount from Henderson State took medalist honors by three shots over her teammate Allie Bianchi.
NSU improved by seven shots (310-303) in the second round. Kaylee Petersen led the way with rounds of 74-75 to tie for sixth. Aitana Hernandez and Nine Lee helped fuel the rally with strong finishes. Hernandez shot 2-under on her final nine and tied for 21st (80-74) while Lee tied for 19th (78-75) after playing her final six holes in 1-under.
Megan Brown and Mikaela Rindermann tied for 11th at 152 to lead SWOSU, while Zoe Morton and Rebecca Lau tied for 36 at 159.
Hayden Meiser tied for 31st at 158 to pace OBU. Valentina Nunez Butzonitch tied for 36th at 159, Joise Patterson tied for 43rd at 160 and Lindyn Ross tied for 64th at 165.
Northeastern State will host its 22nd Golf Classic in Broken Arrow on Sept 13 and 14.
