NSU tied for lead in NSU Classic at Emerald Falls

BROKEN ARROW, Okla. – The Northeastern State men’s golf team is tied for first after Monday’s opening rounds of the 2013 NSU Classic, which is being held at the par-72, 7,005-yard Emerald Falls Golf Club.

The RiverHawks sit at 26-over-par 602 (296-306) after the first two rounds, and they are tied with Central Missouri (302-300). Arkansas Tech finds itself a stroke behind, while Central Oklahoma is in fourth at 608 (312-296) and Southwestern Oklahoma State is fifth at 610 (304-306).

Freshmen Marc Johnson (71-77) and Tate Williamson are tied for fifth overall at 4-over 148. Sophomore Brent Williamson (76-75) is tied for 21st at 7-over 151, and junior Josh Strimple (77-78) is tied for 33rd at 11-over 155. Rounding out the team was sophomore Michael Varner at 168 (88-80).

Junior Jonas Granel is playing as an individual and is tied for 17th at 6-over 150 (74-76). Other individuals are junior Brad Hager (77-76=153, T-25) and senior Jordan Perceful (77-80=157, T-43).

The RiverHawks will be in the final group, which will begin teeing off at 9:40 a.m.
