NSU women tied for third
BUCKEYE, Ariz. – The Northeastern State women’s golf team sits in 3rd place after Thursday’s opening round of the Southwest Minnesota State University Spring Invite. The tournament is being contested at the par-72, 5,824-yard Sundance Golf Club.
The RiverHawks posted a 27-over-par 315 in Thursday’s opening round and sit six strokes back of the lead.
Indianapolis, who is seventh in the most recent Division II Golf Stat rankings, finished the opening round in first place after shooting a 21-over 309. Minnesota State is four strokes ahead of NSU in second after carding a 23-over 311.
Junior Kayla Schroeder leads the way for the Riverhawks after tying her career-low with a four-over 76. She is locked in a tie for third, two strokes off the lead. Junior Charter Lawson carded a 5-over-par 77 and is tied for sixth. Sophomore Baylee Price sits in a tie for 11th after shooting 7-over 79, while freshman Alexis Armon is tied for 20th after posting an 11-over-par 83. Freshman Fiona Hakanen carded a 16-over 88 and is tied for 31st.
Kanya Sethasompobe is pacing the field after shooting 2-over 74 in the first round.
Friday’s final round will begin at 10:16 a.m. CDT.
