OCU opens NAIA National Championship in third; Kamas, Hermann two shots off pace

Maddi Kamas is tied for 11th individually and Oklahoma City University sits in third place four shots off the lead following the first round of the NAIA National Championship at TPC at Deere Run in Silvis, Il.

Kamas shot a 76 and OCU shot 309 as scores were generally high on the difficult course. British Columbia leads at 305 followed by University of Cumberlands at 308. The individual lead is held by Kate Castle of Milligan and Abby Donovan of Kansas Wesleyan at 74.

Also for OCU, Paige Wood and Jamie Welsh shot 77, Aubrey House carded a 79 and Logan Allen shot 80.

Defending Women’s Oklahoma Golf Association state amateur champion and Ponca City native Sydney Hermann of Dalton State matched Kamas with a 76 and is also just two shots off the individual lead.
