OCU’s Kaminski ties for second in Arizona Christian Invitational
PHOENIX – Oklahoma City University’s Rupert Kaminski tied for second place in the Arizona Christian Invitational on Tuesday at Moon Valley Country Club.
Kaminski, a freshman from Johannesburg, South Africa, carded a 74-70-67–211 for the Stars. Third-ranked OCU finished seventh place in a field including five of the top 10-ranked teams in NAIA men’s golf.
Oklahoma City posted a 299-287-287–873. Seventh-ranked Johnson & Wales (Fla.) took the tournament title, recording a 291-284-278–853. Peter French led Johnson & Wales by picking up the individual crown with a 71-63-68–202.
Matthew Cheung of the Stars turned in a 70-72-76–218. Cheung, a junior from Brisbane, Australia, tied for 12th place.
Jamie Warman added a 78-70-77–225, while Anthony Marchesani provided OCU with an 80-75-71–226. OCU’s Issa Abou el Ela had a 77-77-73–227.
The temperature climbed from 59 degrees to a high of 87 on Tuesday at the par-72, 7,216-yard course.
Oklahoma City competes next in the San Antonio Shootout on Feb. 29-March 1 at TPC San Antonio.
