OGA Stroke Play Championship at Jimmie Austin OU Golf Course, first round canceled
The Big 12 Conference is currently recognized as the strongest golf conference in the country, and the Oklahoma Golf Association Stroke Play Championship which was slated to start today at Jimmie Austin OU Golf Course in Norman is likely to reflect that.
The first round Monday was canceled due to strong storms in the area. The tournament will be shortened to 36 holes, with the first round Tuesday and the field then cut to the low 40 and ties for the final round Wednesday.
Some of the favorites would have to be University of Oklahoma redshirt freshman Jaxon Dowell, incoming freshman Andrew Goodman, Tulsan James Roller of Texas Tech and Guthrie’s Luke Morgan of Baylor. Lane Wallace of Yukon, who just completed his career at OU, is also in the field.
There are plenty of other collegiate and top high school players to challenge the Big 12 quartet. Complete tee times and pairings are here.
Defending champion Rasmus Neergaard-Petersen of Oklahoma State is not in the field. Heath Myers of Kingfisher, who won in 2019 at Oak Tree National, is the only past champion in the field.
