The Oklahoma Golf Association has announced it will now use a points system for all events and hand out a Player of the Year award to both a senior and non-senior at season’s end.
The points system was instituted by new rules director Bob Phelps. It will be weighted toward the OGA Junior Champonship, OGA State Amateur and OGA Stroke Play Championship, with points also awarded for the Mid-Amateur Championship, Four-Ball Championship, USGA qualifiers and some planned new one-day events. For the seniors, the two biggest events will be the Senior Amateur and Senior Stroke Play Championship.
Points will also be awarded to amateurs who compete in the Oklahoma Open. Due to the COVID-19 pandemic, there will be no USGA qualifiers in the state in 2020.
Anyone with questions on the points system can contact the OGA at 405-848-0042. Points will be updated after each event on the OGA website at www.okgolf.org and also will be posted on www.golfoklahoma.org.
