LAS VEGAS (March 4, 2018) – Facing a nationally competitive field, Oklahoma Christian posted a solid opening day Sunday in the Las Vegas Desert Classic.

All five OC players posted scores between 74 and 77 on the par-72, 6,962-yard layout at Royal Links Golf Club’s Links Replica Course, giving the Eagles a team score of 301. That put them in a tie for fifth among the 18 teams, just four shots back of the co-leaders, No. 1-ranked West Florida and Grand Valley State (Mich.).

No. 23-ranked Arkansas Tech was one shot back, in third, with Regis (Colo.) in fourth, two shots ahead of OC and Lindenwood (Mo.). The field also includes No. 19 Central Oklahoma and five other teams (including OC) that received votes in the most recent NCAA Division II coaches’ poll.

Junior Juan Pallach led OC with a 74, putting him in 11th place individually in the 104-man field, seven shots behind the leader, Chandler Blanchet of West Florida. OC’s Cameron Brown shot a 75 and was tied for 14th, with Garrett White and Andres Brictson another shot back at 76, tied for 22nd.

No. 5 man Jackson Phillips fired a 77 and was tied for 30th. Senior Chris Karlovich, playing as an individual, posted an 81 and was tied for 76th.

The tournament will continue Monday and Tuesday.
