TULSA, Okla.. – The Oral Roberts women’s golf team has signed three newcomers for the 2016-17 season, it was announced by the coaching staff.

Beatriz Garcia – Torreon, Coahila // Colegio Americano de Torreon

From the same school as the reigning Summit League Golfer of the Year Alejandra Acosta, Garcia will look to continue the strong tradition of ORU golfers from Mexico. She has won national tournaments, and also competes on the swimming and soccer teams, winning soccer player of the year in 2013. Garcia chose ORU over Maryland because of the coaching staff, academics and teammates.

ORU Coach Lance Watson on Garcia

"Beatriz is our fifth golfer from Torreon. She is another great multi-sport athlete and I feel like her golf is in front of her. She is taught under ORU Hall of Famer Pamela Ontiveros and we think she has the potential to be a better player than her teacher."

Katie Kirkhart – Muskogee, Okla. // Hilldale High School

Kirkhart is a multi-sport star at Hilldale High School, having been recruited for both golf and basketball. She was a semifinalist for Oklahoma Miss Basketball honors, and was the 2015 4A Individual State Champion on the golf course. She helped her golf team to three state championships under coach Oren Sikes and was also a member of the National Honor Society and the Superintendent’s Honor Roll. The daughter of Chad and Jamie Kirkhart, Katie said she chose ORU because it is a great college with a great women’s golf program.

Watson on Kirkhart

"Katie comes to us as probably one of the best athletes that we’ve ever signed. She is a multi-sport star in Oklahoma and is a three-time state champion. We think her best golf is still in front of her when she focuses on golf 100 percent."

Annie Lacombe – Laval, Quebec // Vanier High School

Lacombe will come to ORU from Vanier High School, where she was the 2013-14 Academic Honor Award winner. She was the 2014 and 2015 State Junior Champion and the 2014 Collegial State Champion and was nominated for the Canadian College Athletique Association Pan-Canadian Athlete of the year for 2015. She competed in the 2013 Canada Games, the 2014 Quebec Junior State Championship and the 2015 Optimist International. She was the 2012 Quebec PGA Revelation of the Year and the 2013 and 2014 Quebec PGA Women’s Athlete of the Year. The daughter of Nathalie Deveau and Stephane Lacombe, Annie chose ORU over South Dakota, Evansville, Western Michigan and Coastal Carolina.

Watson on Lacombe

"Annie is the first Quebec golfer we have ever had at ORU. She has shown to be one of the best junior players in the country the last two years and I expect her to come in and make and immediate impact on the ORU women’s golf program."
