Ortiz grabs lead in Supreme Lending Classic at Indian Springs

Broken Arrow – Alvaro Ortiz of Guadalajara, Mexico shot 9-under 63 to grab the lead after the first day of the 72-hole Supreme Lending Classic on the All-Pro Tour at The Club at Indian Springs (River Course).
Ortiz made an eagle on the par 5 3rd along with eight bridies. Ortiz made the turn at 6-under par and tacked on three more birdies on back finishing birdie, par, birdie, birdie. The field of 156 are competing for a purse of $140,000 with the winner taking home $35,000 and a spot into the Big Money Golf Classic.
Players were split into morning and afternoon waves, with the morning wave seeing lower scores overall. Oritz holds a one shot lead over 2018 Supreme Lending Classic Runner Up Derek Oland of Plano, Texas. Oland posted the lowest round of the afternoon wave carding an eagle and six bridies for a bogey free 64. One shot back of him is recent University of Oklahoma University graduate Blaine Hale of Dallas with a 65, along with PGA Latin American player Ryan Baca (Sugar Land, TX), and Detroit Mercy graduate Kyle Gaines (Oxford, MI) who all sit at 7-under par. Baca and Gaines both were able to keep their cards clean of bogies on the round, while Hale tallied the most birdies of the day with nine, but was set back by his two bogeys on the back nine.
Round two will begin tomorrow morning at 7:30 A.M. with those who teed off in the afternoon wave followed by those who teed off in the morning for round one. Pairing and order of groups will remain the same. Tomorrow players will be battling to stay about the cut line, which will be the top 35 players and ties. The tournament continues through Saturday.
