ORU finishes 11th in St. George
ST. GEORGE, Utah – The Oral Roberts men’s golf team notched four total eagles for the tournament and improved two shots on Tuesday but fell a spot in the standings to finish 11th after shooting 302-300 (602) at the Pizza Hut Pat Hicks Invitational, hosted by Southern Utah.
College of Charleston came from behind to win the team championship with a 36-hole score of 563 (285-278). Parker Dolezal continued to lead ORU after a 74 on Tuesday, tying for 17th at 144 (70-74), while Scott Newell matched the lowest round by a Golden Eagle this year at 68 to move up to a tie for 24th (78-68—146).

– ORU carded four eagles in the tournament, one each by Scott Newell, Dennis Andersen, Ollie Penn and Trevor Torgerson. No team had more individuals make an eagle and only Utah Valley (5) had more than the Golden Eagles.
– Newell posted the second 68 by a Golden Eagle this year, but the first on a par 72 course. Torgerson also has a 68 on his record at the Herb Wimberly Intercollegiate.
– Newell’s 68 matches his lowest career score on a par 72 course. He shot a 67 at the Harold Funston Invitational October 8, 2013.
– Newell finished tied for third in par 3 scoring at 2.88 (-1), while Parker Dolezal finished tied for fourth in par 4 scoring at 3.80 (-4).
– Dolezal tied with individual champion Kenny You for tournament high honors with 11 birdies. Newell was not far behind with nine scores under par.
